From Tammy Kranz

One memory stands out and that is at cheerleading camp before our 9th grade year. Here we had been thrown together from 3 different schools to begin a year at the brand new Harwod Jr. High. 6 girls from different schools all practicing for camp and our goal is to win blue ribbons and the coveted spirit stick! We are at SMU in a dorm and Denise comes flying in and tells me Renee has had an accident and sprained her ankle. I run to her room and she has this ankle that is now purple, blue, and a little green! I am frantic and all my hopes of scoring big after all the hours of practice are lost. Denise had "doctored" Renee's ankle carefully with eye shadow and fabricated this whole story. Next we are riding the elevator down to practice and suddenly it stops mid floor! Renee is frantic. She squats in the corner and tells everyone not to breathe because we are all going to run out of oxygen. We are in a panic and then Denise nonchalantly hits the "run" button and off we go. She had pushed the emergency stop when no one was looking. She was always playing little practical jokes on us and we loved it!!! I could go on and on. She always loved the details to every story. So if you started telling her one, you better have ALL the juicey details or she would wear you out! Our cheerleading sponser, Miss Porter, found a notepad with "Details by Denise" to give to her. It was perfect! There were so many boys that loved her from afar. They were too afraid to approach her and her beauty, although she was the sweetest and most kind person to everyone. I just followed in her shadow and watched with awe. She was absolutely amazing!!!
